City First Enterprises needed their communications to match their mission. As a CDFI lending capital to people often left out of traditional financial systems, they wanted their annual impact reports to be as accessible and engaging as their work. Not dry numbers, but stories that connect. After five years of collaboration, we've helped them transform how they communicate impact.
We created interactive digital impact reports that shift away from financial jargon toward human-centered narratives. Each report weaves together data visualization, borrower stories, and custom illustrations to bring their work to life. Rather than leading with "who we are," we center their clients' experiences—affordable housing developers, clean energy projects, small businesses, and first-time homeowners. The reports work for multiple audiences: institutional investors can find the data they need, while community partners and borrowers see themselves reflected in the stories.
